Amelia De La Haye
Professional Dance Instructor
Amelia was born in Detroit MI, the home of Motown music. This, coupled with her
musical upbringing, gave rise to her unique and soulful dance style. She believes deeply in the
mental, emotional, and physical healing dance inspires. She says “ When I dance, I bring my
whole heart to the floor and it has always been a place of healing and freedom.”
At the young age of 6, Amelia began her dance journey training with Hip-hop, Color
Guard and Majorette teams. By age 14 she transitioned to the classical dance platform at
DeKalb School of the Arts in Atlanta GA, where she specialized in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and
Lyrical.
In 2004 she began teaching independently and choreographing for professional shows in
Orlando FL, while continuing her training at Valencia College. After graduating from Valencia,
she transitioned to ballroom in Jacksonville FL and trained to be an instructor with her focus on
the Latin and Rhythm dances. She has been an active part of the ballroom dance community
ever since.

Amelia loves teaching as much as she enjoys learning. She says, “as teachers we should
always be students, as there is always more to learn”, and believes that dance should be a safe
place to heal and grow. She hopes as a teacher she can empower others to discover their
unique style and confidently express themselves through music.
